Industrial Engineering Standards in Europe (IESE)

This partnership group was selected to provide a good balance between the technical/practical aspects provided by Germany and the Netherlands and the scientific expertise provided by Iceland, Sweden and Denmark. The Institute of Industrial Engineering as a Independent accreditation body provides a good link between the two groups and can represent views of practicing IE professionals

Objectives 1:

1) to utilise the European Framework of Qualification (EFQ) as the benchmark standard, against which the National Framework of Qualification (NFQ) for each participating country will be compared. This will include the credit transfer system for Industrial engineering Educational programmes.

The deliverable for this objective will be:

a) a document comparing individual countries against EFQ and reconditions for next steps to achieve harmonisation.

Objective 2:

2) taking the Irish Industrial Engineering Educational Programme as the basis to evaluate the needs and requirements of business in the partner countries.

The deliverable for this objective will be:

a) provide a gap analysis between IE educational programmes and industry needs , using the Irish programme as the basis

The outcomes will be used as a basis to establish a Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Industrial Engineering VET and continuous educational programmes. It also will be the reference bases for harmonisation with the European Qualification Framework (EQF).

The outcome of this project will be disseminated internet pages, workshops, seminars, published papers and in professional journals.

The impact of this project will provide a "road map" for harmonisation of Industrial Engineering educational programmes across Europe.
